I suggest that flute lessons be scheduled weekly for at least 30 minutes, particularly for younger students. For a more in-depth experience, I also provide 45 or 60-minute lessons, which are perfect for thoroughly covering all aspects of learning.

I teach flute lessons in Bournemouth at my home music studio. I Virtual lessons are also offered through Skype or Facetime.

How are flute lessons structured?
Yes, you will need access to or own a flute to take lessons. Having an instrument is essential for practising between sessions. I am more than happy to assist you in selecting the right flute for your needs. There are affordable beginner level flutes available, with prices increasing for higher-quality models as you progress. My extensive knowledge of flutes at every level ensures that you will find the perfect instrument to support your learning journey.
Do I need my own flute?
I welcome students of all ages, but recommend a minimum age of 6 years old to start flute lessons. At this age, children typically have the necessary physical growth, motor skills and attention span to benefit from structured lessons. However, I am happy to work with you in assessing your child if they are under 6 years old to determine if they are ready to begin. Each child is unique, and some may show readiness earlier based on their interest and developmental level. We can schedule a trial lesson to evaluate their readiness and ensure that learning flute will be a positive, accessible and enjoyable experience for them.
